A Call to Obedience

Over the past few months I have had the word OBEY come up in my time with the Lord and in sermons that I have sat under. It is only human nature to want to disobey authority and God, but I know better from what I have learned. I have always had a problem with authority, if someone tells me to sit down my reaction would be to stand up. It might sound strange, but I just don't enjoy being told what to do. While reading Deuteronomy 30, everything became so clear to me that I almost felt silly. God so simply puts his commands out there for us to understand, but somehow we just don't get it.

In Deuteronomy 30:17-20 it says "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, OBEYING him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This is the KEY to your life. And if you love and OBEY the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Those verses to me say it all! I have choose Blessings over my life and by the grace of God live by his word. Not by man, but only by him can I walk this daily life. If it were up to me I would be up to the same ole things I used to be doing. It has taken me a very long time to come to a place of complete surrender to Him and it has made such a difference in my life. Before, I knew I loved the Lord and was a "Christian", but my life was bearing no fruit and I fell into the same sin week after week. Thank goodness I made the choice to take up my cross and follow him!!

Since marrying in June I have completely wanted to change every aspect of my life. After coming to the point of complete surrender, God has molded me and is still molding me. It has hurt tremendously, because many of the things that are being trimmed away I love... examples would be, friends, shows, beverages, music, attitude. There is nothing I want more then to be pleasing in God's sight and in my husbands.

I pray that if you are "on the fence" with some things like I was then you will get it under the blood and come to a place of total surrender and obey God. Life is so much sweeter walking daily with God.... I would have it absolutely NO other way! :)

Love,
Laura. :)

Outside Fun

Friday night we had a "stay at home night", our week was filled every night with things to do. After work I came home and cooked my first meal of the week, which is very unusual. I made barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, and a cold pasta salad... mmm mmm! After dinner we all headed outside so that we could enjoy our new fence. I sat and read a book while Kyle took a few pictures of her. I am LOVING all this warm weather!! :)

Good Finds

I LOVE finding good deals! I NEVER buy anything unless it is on sale. On Saturday morning I took Maple for a jog around the neighborhood then decided to go to the College Heights yard sale. I originally went to look at the patio set, but I found something completly different. I bought a really cute oval mirror and a old window pane. I have been wanting one of these for a long time, but havent found the right price until Saturday... I got it for a steal, $5.00!! All I am going to do is sand it down and paint it white, then sand it again to make it look old. At the flea market you can find these anywhere from $50-$100 bucks.

Later in the day I met up with my mom and we stopped by The Blue Hydrangea, which is a little antique store in Hendersonville. I found some realy cute things there as well. I am SO happy with all my finds. :)

Maple Turns 1!

We love are little puppy, Maple. She brings so much joy to Kyle and I, she has SO much personality... sometimes, too much! This past Sunday we had my parents over for lunch, we usually go to their house, but since we wanted to have a "party" for Maple we decided to do it at our house. Originally I had planned to have other dogs over so they could all play, but after the busy month we've had, I thought it would be best to keep it LOW KEY. Our whole meal was something I have never made before, we had stuffed pork chops, sweet potato salad, and steamed broccoli. It was delicious.... I am going to start steaming my veggies more often! After lunch we had a pink lemonade cake made from scratch. Later my mom and Kyle took Maple out and it seemed as if the whole neighborhood was outside, they were able to meet more of our neighbors and Maple met some new friends, she even gave them some of her dog treats that I made. :)

We had a fun day, even if it was cheesy! :)We love are dog...why not give her the best life here, since we can't take her with us to Heaven. :)

We love you Maple Paws!

Baby Shower!

Last Saturday we had a brunch baby shower at our home for Adrain, my sis-in-law. A few ladies and I put together this special day for Cade. He was showered with so many cute things that he will need VERY soon. It was nice to see all the wonderful women that came together to celebrate this new life. :)
